Bio

Gloomy는 2003년생 R&B/전자음악 뮤지션입니다. 작곡, 프로듀싱, 디제잉을 하고 있습니다. 백석예술대학교 뮤직테크놀로지학과를 졸업했으며, 2025년 KT&G 상상마당이 주관하는 ‘상상마당 아카데미 미디어 과정 고급반 <SSAP: 일단 앨범내기>’ 2기에 선발되어 전자음악가 키라라의 지도 아래 데뷔 앨범 Guilt Protocol을 완성했습니다. Gloomy는 다양한 장르를 기반으로 실험적인 사운드를 추구하고 있습니다.

Gloomy is an R&B/electronic music artist born in 2003, who composes, produces, and DJs across various genres. He graduated in 2025 from the Department of Music Technology at Baekseok Arts University. That same year, he was selected for an album production project hosted by KT&G Sangsangmadang Academy, where he completed his debut album guilt protocol under the guidance of electronic musician Kirara. Gloomy is currently active as an independent artist, exploring experimental soundscapes and genre-fluid productions.

Guilt Protocol

‘Guilt Protocol’은 사랑을 통해 자신의 원죄를 자각한 화자가 죄책감의 루프에 갇히는 이야기를 담은 앨범이다. 이 앨범의 중심에는 단순한 감정으로서의 죄책감이 아닌, 반복적으로 작동하는 정서적 구조로서의 죄책감이 있다. 그것은 한 번의 후회나 실수가 아니라, 서로 사랑을 하며 상처를 주고받을 때 생기는 필연적인 죄의식이다. 이때 죄책감은 기계적으로 주입된 알고리즘처럼 작동한다. 화자는 사랑과 자신의 존재에 대한 죄책감에서 벗어나려 하지만, 그 몸부림조차 루프의 일부가 되어버린다. 죄책감은 하나의 시스템처럼 순환하며, 화자 안에 고정된 ‘프로토콜’을 형성한다. 총 12개의 트랙은 이 반복 구조를 따라가며, 감정이 어떻게 하나의 회로처럼 작동하는지를 보여준다. 특히 마지막 아웃트로가 다시 첫 곡으로 이어지는 방식은, 이 순환이 끝나지 않으며 닫힌 체계로 굳어졌음을 상징한다. 반복되는 죄책감의 순환은 앨범 전반에 멜랑콜리와 우울의 정서를 형성한다. ‘Guilt Protocol’은 그 흐름을 따라가며, 사랑이 구원이 아닌 원죄의 반복일 수 있음을 넌지시 이야기한다.

Guilt Protocol is an album about a narrator who becomes trapped in a cycle of guilt after realizing their original sin through love. At the heart of this album is not guilt as a fleeting emotion, but as a repetitive emotional structure—something that functions almost like a system.

This guilt doesn’t stem from a single mistake or moment of regret. Instead, it emerges as an inevitable consequence of giving and receiving pain in the process of loving someone. In this context, guilt behaves like an implanted algorithm—mechanical, recurring, and hard to escape. The narrator tries to break free from this sense of guilt tied to both love and existence itself, but even that struggle becomes part of the loop.

Guilt begins to function like a closed system, forming a fixed “protocol” within the narrator. The album’s 12 tracks trace this emotional circuit, revealing how feelings can operate like a programmed loop. The structure of the album reflects this idea: the final outro leads directly back into the first track, suggesting the cycle never truly ends.

This repetition shapes the overall tone of the album, infusing it with melancholy and emotional weight. Guilt Protocol quietly suggests that love may not always be a source of salvation—but sometimes, the place where guilt endlessly begins again.

한 남자가 사랑하는 여자의 기억이 저장된 디스켓을 발견하고, 특수한 장비를 통해 그 디지털 기억 속으로 접속을 시도한다. 기억 속에서 그녀와 재회하지만, 디스켓에 담긴 것은 결국 실체가 없는 데이터에 불과했다. 그녀를 현실 세계로 되돌려 놓으려는 모든 시도는 실패로 돌아가고, 남자는 깊은 좌절감에 빠진다. 현실과 기억의 경계를 허물려는 절망적인 노력 끝에, 남자는 그녀를 구해내지 못한 채 포기하게 된다. 마지막 장면에는 텅 빈 공간에 특수 장비만이 홀로 남겨져 있다.

A man discovers a diskette containing the memories of a woman he loves, and attempts to access those digital memories through a special device. Though he reunites with her within the memories, what's stored on the diskette is ultimately nothing more than intangible data. All attempts to bring her back to the real world end in failure, leaving the man in deep despair. After desperate efforts to cross the boundary between reality and memory, he is forced to give up without being able to save her. In the final scene, only the special device remains alone in an empty space.

Artist Statement

Gloomy는 우울한 사람들과 공감하기 위해 시작되었습니다. 그러나 우울함 속에도 수만가지 결이 있기에, 감정은 끝없는 지형을 가진 소리와 비슷하다고 생각합니다.

Gloomy의 첫 앨범 Guilt Protocol은 섬세한 소리의 결로 감정을 표현하는 뮤지션 Gloomy의 첫 기록입니다. 앞으로 더 넓고 깊은 소리를 만드는 사람으로서 계속 만나뵐 수 있기를 바랍니다.

Gloomy began as a way to connect with people who carry a sense of melancholy. But melancholy has countless shades, and I’ve come to realize that emotion is something like sound—shaped by an ever-shifting and intricate landscape.

Gloomy’s first album, Guilt Protocol, marks the beginning of Gloomy’s journey to express feeling through the delicate textures of sound. I hope to continue meeting you through a wider and deeper sonic landscape in the future.

Gloomy는 이름이 주는 첫인상과 달리, 우울함에만 머무르지 않는 음악을 지향하는 아티스트다. 그는 섬세한 감정의 결을 포착하고, 이를 음악으로 풀어내며 청자와 조용한 공감을 나누는 데서 출발했다. 앞으로는 보다 다채로운 감정의 스펙트럼을 담아내며, 음악을 통해 진심 어린 연결을 만들어가고자 한다. ‘소통’은 그의 창작에서 가장 중요한 키워드다.

UK 사운드에 기반한 DJ 활동을 통해 전자음악의 리듬과 감정에 대한 감각을 쌓아왔고, 첫 앨범을 앞두고 있는 지금, 하이퍼팝(Hyper-pop)부터 어쿠스틱 밴드 사운드까지 장르의 경계를 넘나드는 실험적인 시도를 이어가고 있다. 그의 음악은 에너지와 서정성, 그리고 진정성이 공존하는 새로운 사운드를 지향한다.

“Gloomy” isn’t quite the right word to describe the excellent debut from the producer of that name. For me, “gloomy” suggests something greyer than the intense melancholia of the expansive Guilt Protocol. Over the course of 12 songs, Gloomy explores a range of emotions (though none of them are happy) through an impressively diverse set of musical styles, such as emo, ambient, techno, and more. I’m going with the jazzy trip-hop inspired Chain. Densely layered, atmospheric, and an attractive vocal performance that at times touches on Jeff Buckley.

“Gloomy”는 이 이름을 가진 프로듀서의 훌륭한 데뷔작을 설명하기에 완벽한 단어는 아닐지도 모른다. 내게 “Gloomy”는 『Guilt Protocol』의 강렬한 멜랑콜리보다는 더 회색빛을 띤 감정을 떠올리게 한다. 12곡에 걸쳐 Gloomy는 다양한 감정들을 탐색한다 (그 감정들 중 행복한 것은 없지만). 이 앨범은 이모, 앰비언트, 테크노 등 인상적으로 다양한 음악적 스타일을 통해 그런 감정들을 표현한다. 나는 이 중 재지한 트립합 스타일의 Chain을 선택했다. 풍부하게 겹쳐진 사운드, 대기감 있는 분위기, 그리고 매력적인 보컬 퍼포먼스는 때때로 Jeff Buckley를 떠올리게 한다.

DJ로서 Gloomy는 SCR, Club Sober, Temple Seoul, Shelter Seoul, L.A.D Seoul, Mushroom Itaewon, Gyoziphop Seoul, Noname Suyu, XX Hongdae, Apollo Hongdae, Pausdimension, Alexroom euljiro 등 서울 전역의 다양한 클럽과 베뉴에서 활발히 활동해왔습니다. 주로 UK 기반의 음악을 중심으로 하며, 장르의 경계를 넘나드는 유연한 믹싱을 통해 독창적인 디제잉 스타일을 선보이고 있습니다.

90's Rave 는 90년대 초반 레이브 문화 전성기를 재현한 타임머신 컨셉의 파티였습니다. 당시 클럽 씬을 이끌었던 테크노, UK, 브레이크비트 등 일렉트로닉 사운드로 구성된 셋리스트를 통해 90년대 언더그라운드의 진정한 분위기를 되살렸습니다. 한국 전자음악 씬의 부흥을 목표로 기획된 이 파티는 전자음악 본연의 에너지와 매력을 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공했습니다.

As a DJ, Gloomy has been actively performing across Seoul's diverse club and venue scene, including SCR, Club Sober, Temple Seoul, Shelter Seoul, L.A.D Seoul, Mushroom Itaewon, Gyoziphop Seoul, Noname Suyu, XX Hongdae, Apollo Hongdae, Pausdimension, and Alexroom Euljiro. Primarily focusing on UK-based music, Gloomy showcases a distinctive DJing style through flexible mixing that seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. 90's Rave was a time machine-concept party that recreated the golden era of rave culture from the early 90s. Through a carefully curated setlist featuring electronic sounds like Techno, UK, and Breakbeat that defined the club scene of that time, the event brought back the authentic underground atmosphere of the 90s. Designed to revitalize Korea's electronic music scene, this party provided an opportunity to experience the raw energy and appeal that electronic music originally embodied.
